I just ran Akron Marathon for a PR on my first sub 4 hour marathon last weekend and yet I was on the starting line for the Red, White and Blue 26.2 marathon 8 days later. What was I thinking? (more…)

The Akron Marathon is my favorite race, but it is a hard one. Even as hard as this marathon is, I sent some high goals for myself. Goal number 1 was to finally break the Sub 4 hour barrier on a marathon. Goal number 2 was to finish this race in my quest to reach the Iridium level in Marathon Maniacs by running 4 marathons in 23 days. (more…)

I have been looking for ways to challenge myself in running as of late. It started with my running a marathon, then it progressed to running a marathon in under 5 hours. Last year I became a Marathon Maniac by running 2 marathons in a 15 day period. This year I’m looking to break the 4 hour marathon, I am only 12 minutes from that goal now. My second goal for this year is to run 4 marathons in a 23 day period & obtain Iridium level in the Marathon Maniacs. But now is the time for me to set some goals for next year, and I think I’ve got a good one. And what better day to announce this than my birthday, I am running the Goofy. (more…)

It’s official, I have decided I need to obtain Iridium. You are probably thinking why does he need to have a platinum hardening agent. Maybe he is starting a crucible or heavy duty electrical contact manufacturing business in his garage. Well I don’t need that Iridium. I need Marathon Maniacs Iridium Level. And I have come up with a plan to do it without leaving Ohio. On Friday I paid all the entry fees for the required races. I’m committed now, no turning back. (more…)

Last fall I qualified for Bronze level Marathon Maniacs by running 2 marathon in 16 days. I had not planned for this, I did it on a whim. I ran the Akron Marathon with the 5 hour pacer Dana Casanave. She was running her 36th marathon in 36 weeks, and working towards 52 in 52 weeks. Until I met Dana, I was going to run Akron and follow it up with the Towpath Half Marathon. But I felt good after Akron. (more…)

I HAVE FINISHED 5 MARATHONS! Number 5 was my first time running the full marathon at Cleveland. For me it was a much different experience than I have had in any other one. But more on that later. First my major impression of the 2011 Cleveland Marathon, the good, the bad and the ugly. (more…)
So I am running the Cleveland Marathon in a week. My training has been superb. Everything seems to indicate not only a PR by almost an hour, but I should break that 4 hour barrier.
Now to be a marathoner you usually need to be a pretty motivated person, something I am not naturally inclined to be. So when this race gets tough, I acknowledge my flaw and intend to motivate myself through music. Some people like certain beats to run to, others like inspiration words, and some just like angry metal. I guess as a person with an eclectic music taste I can draw inspiration from any of them. So here is a list of music, a song for every mile, that I intend to have on my iPod playlist. (more…)
